Where is the ACAD.PGP file?

Many CAD users change the aliases of common commands in the ACAD.PGP file. The location of this file has been moved around over the years and finding it has always been a problem.

The quickest way to access the PGP file is within AutoCAD.

1. Tools pull-down menu
2. Customize
3. Edit Program Parameters (acad.pgp)

Pulldown

This will open the file within Notepad. All you have to do is make modification to the command aliases.

For example, many people change the COPY alias from CO to just C.

Note:
1. You cannot have two alias with the same letters. For example, you cannot use C for the COPY and for    the CIRCLE commands.
2. Any changes made to the PGP file will only take affect aftere restarting AutoCAD.

Hi there,

In the artile .. it said: "Any changes made to the PGP file will only take affect aftere restarting AutoCAD."
You don't have to restart AutoCAD if you issue the command REININT and choose PGP File. Thu the file will be reloaded without restarting AutoCAD

There is no Tools pull down menu in autodesk. How else can the files be accessed?

I would like to run a bat file from within autocad and transfer 2 variables %1 and %2.
in lisp how would this be done.

need help form the mad cadder

many thanks

might be worth mentioning that for easier migrationin the future - the changes should be posted at the end of the file

I think a even better way is typing in aliasedit at the command line and do it in there. This way you can print it, import and export it and less likely to do a typo error or do a misplaced enter key.

Hi,
Instaed of restarting AutoCAD you can issue command:Reinit
With regards
