Double-clicking MTEXT or DTEXT not working

Since the release of AutoCAD 2002, double-clicking either MTEXT or DTEXT would automatically open the text editor. This elevated the old "DDEDIT" or "ED" command to edit text.

Sometimes, this option stops working. If this does occur, check the system variable DBLCLKEDIT. This should be set to ON.

Hello im am using autocad 2007 and having a little problem.Double clicking my mtext useley works to edit the text but now when i double click my mtext to edit, command line says _mtedit cannot find shell program.
Any suggestion as to how i can get it to work, would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Carlos

Double click edit doesn't work. I'm using Autocad 2007, PICKFIRST is set to (1) and DBLCLKEDIT is (ON). When I double click on anything I only get the Properties window opens. I have Autocad 2006 on another computer and double click edit works fine. Any suggestions as to how I can get it to work on Autocad 2007?

PICKFIRST was my problem... it also affected the DEL key...

I am having simular problems with plines, lines, arcs and that basic thing. When I try to grip something it doesnt work on occasion. Anyideas?

Beth

Also, make sure PICKFIRST is set to 1. I've seen the double-click editing behavior fail because of this variable as well.
